FAQ

A: AFV's are multi-fuel vehicles that allow the driver to choose local fuels first, thus reducing transportation expenses dramatically while cleaning the air. An AFV can operate anywhere in todays fuel infrastructure while creating the demand for more clean fuel stations that provide electric charging, and cleaner fuels like propane, ethanol, biodiesel, methane and hydrogen.

Q: What are the benefits to using cleaner fuels?
A: Cleaner safer local fuels cost less than toxic finite ones while supporting our local economy, increasing our nations security and cleaning the air we all breath.

A: Natural Gas is mainly comprised of methane. Methane contains one carbon and four hydrogen atoms, the reduced carbon content of the fuel extends oil change intervals and prolongs the life of the engine. Natural Gas does burn hotter that gasoline, thus burning off lighter oils and effect viscosity therefore you must change your oil but less often.

A: Natural gas is the most abundant biofuel on the planet. Methaneagenic bacteria produces methane from any decomposing matter. Although most natural gas comes from underground sources it is also being produced at sewage plants, landfills, feedlots and your own compost pile.

A: Compressed Natural Gas and Liquefied Natural Gas are available at public filling stations across the country, you can start your search at CNGprices.com

Altfuelprices.com is a great resource for ALL the cleaner, safer, local fuels.
There are about 50 hydrogen stations around the United States today. The USA peaked with about 2000 CNG stations and is now down to about 600 publicly available. 2000+ E85 ethanol dispensers and many Biodiesel stations make it easy to pour a cleaner biofuel directly into your existing vehicles tank. Propane is available at almost every truck stop. A handful of electric chargers exist in a few metropolitan areas with many more currently planned.

Ethanol from waste crops is the way to go while striping the sugar from corn otherwise fed to cows and pigs and feed them healthier distillers grains instead while burning the alcohol in our engines is a no brainer! We just have to be realistic about how finite liquid biofuels are. Biodiesel form algae and waste is what I want to help make happen instead of making it from food crops. I myself choose not to use gasoline, DIEsel or jet fuel and it is my goal to never have to use the finite, toxic stuff again. Currently I buy CNG in Utah for $1.52 a Gasoline Gallon Equivalent (g.g.e.), which takes my vehicles up to 18% further than a gallon of gasoline. So, CNG costs less and with our digital injection system, utilizing a lean burn strategy, you go further on the same # of BTU's!!! When we drove across country on hydrogen, we used all the welding supply shops to prove a point, that hydrogen exists today and you can use it yourself if you want to. My favorite hydrogen station today is in Phoenix, AZ where they use Solar PV panels during the day and off-peak power from the grid at night to electrolyze water and sell hydrogen fuel for less than 1/2 the price of gasoline, per mile.

A: Yes, the safety of compressed natural gas used as a motor fuel is dependent upon the qualifications of the technician installing the fuel system. American Fuel Vehicles are the only installers in the State of Utah that are members of the Society of Automotive Engineers. Our vehicles are beyond compliance. Our vehicles are the best in the country!
